Punishments In Class Are Not Very Effective

Should parents educate their children, or should teachers do so?

Some chairs in a classroom.

When I was in high school teachers punished the students in the most severe way they could: with a paper and a signature. This was called dispatch of expulsion.

When a student misbehaved he was sent to a room to do some homework. Others who behaved exaggeratedly bad were expelled for a few weeks . . . It was vacation for them! Did these punishments give good results? No. The vast majority of them continued behaving badly and did not respect those punishments. But instead, they rebelled further and, as they saw that they disrupted the class and drew attention, continued misbehaving even worse.

Teachers need to educate students, but parents are those who have the responsibility to educate the behaviour of their children with wise discipline.
